The library media center has been a hub of research activity as term 4 projects and papers are well underway. Some highlights of ongoing projects are the World's Fair country research by the grade 7 geography students. Students have become experts on a particular country and will have the opportunity to share this knowledge on June 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the MMHS library. AP Human Geography students are creating documentaries. Grade 8 World History students are creating postcards to reflect their Washington DC travel experience. Grade 10 English students are writing argument papers based on research from the Opposing Viewpoints in Context database. In this project students are applying skills in MLA citation, research using multimedia sources from a database and Google Classroom for real time feedback from teacher and peers. Way to go MMHS on making term 4 a valuable learning time!

On Friday May 8, five local young adult authors visited the school. Several English classes were able to experience first hand the writing and publishing process as the authors shared their most recent books and answered questions. Author Kate Conway walked her groups through the "What if" process she uses when starting a story. The students enjoyed outlining story plots using their English teachers as main characters. Authors Jen Brooks and Trisha Leaver provided insight about college
majors that lead to writing career options and shared their personal
stories of becoming published writers. Books by these authors are available at Titcombs Book Shop in Sandwich.
